Amidst an emotionally charged atmosphere and with a band playing the Champions League anthem, Claude Makéléléformer French football star and winner of the trophy with Real Madrid in 2002, had the honour of presenting the coveted award to an attentive audience.

With the arrival of this great final, another exciting season in European football comes to an end. This year, the title race pits Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid. Despite an inconsistent performance in the Bundesliga, the German side will be hoping to crown their season with a Champions League triumph, while Real Madrid will be looking to add a 15th title to their illustrious record after securing the domestic championship.

In the run-up to the game, Dortmund representatives Nico Schlotterbeck and Julian Brandt shared their thoughts at a press conference at Wembley. Despite the obvious favouritism towards Real Madrid, both players expressed their confidence in their abilities. Schlotterbeck said: "We firmly believe in our chances. In the Champions League, anything is possible. Madrid are a formidable opponent, but we wouldn't be here if we didn't believe we could beat them.

Brandt, meanwhile, highlighted the quality of players like Toni Kroos and the legacy they have left in football: "Kroos is an emblematic figure, an icon of the sport. He has achieved countless successes with Madrid and is an inspiration to many. It is also worth mentioning players like Reus, who has left an indelible mark on the club and has served as a role model for many of us".
